Leicester boss Rodgers: Soumare excellent in Brighton defeat

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was pleased with Boubakary Soumare's performance in defeat at Brighton.

Rodgers is convinced the former Lille midfielder is getting better by the week.

He said, “I thought he was excellent. He's getting up to speed and adapting to how we want to work. Him and Youri were playing the same as how they were against Napoli, both as number eights with Wilf that little bit deeper. We're asking him to penetrate that little bit more rather than sit and serve it because we need goals from those midfield areas.

"But I thought he was excellent. He's played two games in quick succession having not played a great deal but I thought he contributed really well in the period he was on.

"Then I felt just putting on that extra striker, because they went to a back three, so having the second striker to occupy the three centre-halves would help us sustain the pressure we had."
