The Foxes face Burnley on Tuesday night.
Rodgers said: "The journey has been great. We hit a period of inconsistent results but there were mitigating circumstances and they understand that.
"We still have to focus on being the best we can be. The people who run the club have been empathetic to the situation we're in."
"We want to improve and continue with that. They've been around it long enough to understand that progress isn't linear, there is sometimes breaks within that."
Leicester's five-game winless run in the Premier League has seen them drop to 13th in the table, six points above the relegation zone, albeit with at least one game in hand on all the sides below them.
"Respectfully we try to look forward," Rodgers said. "We've played 3-4 games less than other teams so my focus is only looking forward. You have to win games and that's our only notion."
