Leicester boss Rodgers emerges as outstanding candidate for Man Utd board

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the outstanding candidate for Manchester United's board should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be pushed out.

The Sun says leading agent has been sounding out candidates to potentially replace Solskjaer at Old Trafford, according to The Sun.

According to the report, United bosses have drawn-up a four-man list of potential successors for the Red Devils boss, featuring Rodgers, Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and Erik ten Hag, with the Northern Irishman coming out on top.

Conte was said to be interested but the Italian was not prepared to wait for the position to become available and jumped at the chance to take charge at Tottenham at the beginning of the month instead.

Zidane led Real Madrid to three Champions League titles in two spells at he Bernabeu but the out-of-work Frenchman has ruled out a move to Manchester after hinting that he would not be interested in the job.

Meanwhile, an approach to Ten Hag was reportedly met with a cool reception as he informed the agent he did not want to discuss any possible job vacancies at United.

That left Rodgers as the sole remaining candidate and United have been informed that the agent is confident they could lure the former Liverpool boss to Old Trafford.

But the Foxes boss is said to have split opinion among the most influential voices at United, with some hoping Solskjaer can still salvage the Red Devils' campaign.
