Leicester boss Rodgers confirms Vardy back for Newcastle

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that star striker Jamie Vardy should be available for their next game against Newcastle United.

The Englishman was absent for the 2-1 victory over West Ham United as his wife was in labour.

Given the Vardy family has welcomed his daughter into the world, he is ready to resume his footballing duties.

Another who should be back is Ricardo Pereira, who was absent from the last game because of a hamstring issue.

Rodgers told reporters on Vardy: "He had the good news on Saturday and, to be fair to him, he delayed this as long as he possibly could!

"But his wife went into hospital on Friday and gave birth on Saturday morning.

"It's brilliant for both of them.

"He wouldn't have played on Saturday anyway, he'd have been on the bench, but we let him stay at home to look after his wife and kids, and he'll be back for Newcastle."
