Leicester boss Rodgers confident Vardy will ignore England

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is confident Jamie Vardy has no plans for an England return.

Rodgers has dampened hopes that Leicester's prolific striker could be tempted out of retirement for England following Harry Kane's injury.

He said: “Jamie has made his decision on that.

“Jamie has always been clear and I don't see that changing to be honest.

“Sometimes when you go away internationally it is all the travelling and everything else around it.

“It has given him a chance to refresh, spend some time with his family, do some work in isolation at the club and when we start back he is fit and raring to go.

“The question is not whether he can play for England, he can, there is no question, it is whether he wants to.

“I had initial chats with Jamie on it when I came in but I am not worrying about it or encouraging it."
