Leicester boss Puel excited for Maddison future after Man Utd baptism of fire

Leicester manager Claude Puel has admitted James Maddison was thrown into the deep end against Manchester United.

The 21-year-old, who joined from Norwich this summer, made his Premier League debut in the 2-1 loss.

But Maddison performed admirably in the hole behind the striker, and Puel recognizes the potential of his new young star.

"It was his first game in the Premier League and he played well, with quality," said Puel.

"It's tough to play your first game at Old Trafford and in a difficult position behind the striker. Normally, he played box-to-box in his former club and I think he has the ability to play in this position (behind the striker).

"He played it well, to organise the play. He has the ability to keep the ball under pressure also and to give good service for his team-mates. It's encouraging for the future."
