Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has remained coy on the potential signing of Shaun Maloney from Wigan Athletic.
The Foxes have been heavily linked with a £1million move for the 31-year old Scottish winger but until the transfer is complete, Pearson was avoiding making any comment on the rumours.
"I'm not in a position to comment further," said the Foxes boss.
"If things don't happen, then the player has to perform for his current club, so it's unfair to talk openly about that."
Former Celtic ace Maloney has been at the DW Stadium since 2011 and has scored 15 goals in 90 appearances for the club.
This season, he has featured in 19 Championship matches and has scored two goals for the Latics who sit second bottom in England's second tier.
