Leicester City attacker James Maddison has opened up about his World Cup experience.
Maddison was a member of Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad with England at the tournament.
Despite reaching the quarter finals and losing to finalists France, Maddison did not get a single chance to get on the pitch.
"We had the World Cup, which came to a disappointing end, in the end," he said during an interview with Sky Sports.
"There was a real feel we were going to go all the way and win it, to be honest. But it wasn't to be - we lost to a very good France side. The group is so good, I had a few years out the squad, so there are a few new faces that I didn't know.
"Quite a young group, so it's been easy to transition back into, to be fair. But the group as a whole and all the staff and the manager, it's such as easy group to go into and just be yourself, and express yourself.
"That's why, even though I didn't actually get any minutes, when we went out, I was devastated, because you build up such a bond between the group. So, yeah, forward thinking now.
"It's good to be back in amongst it and see the level, and train with the boys and stuff. Hopefully I can kick on now."
