Leeds winger James took helicopter to Fulham clash after welcoming new baby

Daniel James experienced a whirlwind day as Leeds United claimed a penalty shootout victory over Fulham in the League Cup.

The Elland Road club were victorious after a 0-0 draw after normal time, with recent signing James playing his part in the success.

James experienced the birth of his child on Tuesday afternoon, with the 23-year-old spending a few hours with his partner before flying by helicopter for the game at Craven Cottage.

Speaking in his post-match interview, James said: "Thankfully I got to see the birth of my child today plus get to the game tonight.

"It's been a bit of a whirlwind day, and one that I'll always remember."

The winger added: "We can take this win into Saturday.

"We're full of confidence, we're not worried at all [waiting for first league win of the season].

"The manager believes in us as we believe in ourselves, and we're just looking forward to that game on Saturday."
