Leeds Utd, Blackburn and Sheffield Wed all in for Everton winger McGeady

Everton winger Aiden McGeady is the subject of interest from a trio of Championship clubs.

Sheffield Wednesday are believed to be leading the race for the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international but according to Everton's official website, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers are also in the running with a deal expected to be finalised soon.

Manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that McGeady will leave Goodison Park on loan before the close of the winter transfer window on Monday night his destination is not yet sorted out.

"It seems very close," he said after Sunday's 3-0 FA Cup fourth round win over Carlisle United.

"We've agreed terms with two teams in the Championship. It's just a matter of time before one of the deals is clinched.

"Aiden needs to play and it's a really good opportunity for him to do that in a very demanding fixture list for a team that can get a really good tempo into Aiden for Euro 2016.

"That will make sure he comes back having had a good period of football and of having an impact for whichever team he joins."
