Leeds swoop for Argentine defender from Championship rivals

Leeds United have signed Argentine defender Federico Bessone from Swansea City on a three-year deal, reports BBC Sport. The 26-year-old was out of contract at Swansea and is Championship new boys Leeds' fourth summer signing.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson said: "I watched him last year, he's very comfortable on the ball and is a very good acquisition."

He original arrived in Britain in June 2008 when former Swans boss Roberto Martinez signed him on a two-year contract following his release from Espanyol.

Grayson added: "We're delighted we've got him, he had the option to re-sign at Swansea, which he turned down because of our interest in him.

"He's excited, he's aware of the club and the fan base, and having done well with Swansea last season he wants to go one better this season with us."
