Championship outfit Leeds United are facing administration.
The Mail on Sunday says the club needs Massimo Cellino to be granted shock permission to take over or an alternative buyer is found imminently.
"The club is a mess and there's no pretty solution," said one insider on Saturday.
A 2-1 defeat to Doncaster at Elland Road in the Championship gave long-suffering fans no on-field respite from months of off-field fretting.
Leeds are more than £20million in debt, including at least £10.5m owed to GFHC in 'owners' loans' and at least £6.5m to Cellino.
