Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier believes he can earn a place in the France squad.
The young shot stopper knows he has a chance now that Hugo Lloris has retired from international football.
AC Milan's Mike Maignan is the no.1 for Les Bleus at present, but Meslier wants to show coach Didier Deschamps his quality.
“When we perform well in the Premier League, when we are in the France Espoirs team, we always want to go higher," the Leeds stopper told Ouest-France.
"I'm a competitor, so that's a goal. At the moment, the cards are redistributed, places have become available. We give newcomers a chance.
"France has very good goalkeepers. It is the performance of each that will guide the choices of the coach. It's up to me to be good and regular."
