Leeds United are aiming to sign Lazio defender Luiz Felipe.
The Brazilian, 23, is wanted by coach Marcelo Bielsa to strengthen his back-line.
Leeds failed to sign Ben White from Brighton, with the latter holding firm in their desire to keep White.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Felipe is the one Leeds want to start in central defence this season.
The Whites will bid £27 million, and Lazio will hope they raise the offer by around six or seven million.
It is unclear if Felipe is open to the move.
He has been linked to clubs of a higher profile such as Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the past.
