Leeds encouraged in pursuit of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

Leeds United are being encouraged in their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of much interest from Whites boss and fellow American Jesse Marsch, with the move reuniting him with World Cup teammates Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

It's been reported this week that Leeds want McKennie 'as soon as possible' according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, with the Premier League club having already agreed personal terms with the star.

Talking on the Phil Hay Show, Hay admitted that it looked as though the deal will go through before the end of the window, with the Serie A side ready to save themselves further wages amid recent financial difficulties.

"The feeling out of Italy and the message that seems to be coming from Turin and the ownership there is that they would quite happily take a fee for Weston McKennie at this point, they would quite happily trim him from the wage bill."
