Leeds encouraged in bid for frozen out Man Utd winger James

Leeds United are convinced they can prise Daniel James away from Manchester United.

The Daily Star says Leeds biss Marcelo Bielsa tried to sign the Welshman last summer when he was still plying his trade with Swansea City.

The Argentine, however, was pipped to the Wales international's signature by United, who splashed out £15million to acquire his services.

Bielsa is still a fan of James, so much so he's been weighing up tabling a season-long loan bid for the out-of-favour 22-year-old.

It's understood that bid has yet to be lodged as Bielsa is keen to discover United's plans for James this season before approaching them.

And for victory at Brighton, for the second game running, James - whom many had high hopes for - has been omitted from United's starting XI.
