Leeds close to deal for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin

Leeds are close to a deal for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

The Sunday Mirror says the Whites have agreed a deal with the Belgian club to bring in the talented 20-year-old for a fee in the region of £6m.

Marcelo Bielsa wants to add cover after the injury to Kalvin Phillips and has lined up Raskin as his man, with the youngster expected to make the switch to Elland Road in the near future.

This would also be the first central or defensive midfielder Leeds have permanently signed since the Argentine took over three-and-a-half-years ago and Lewis Baker's brief loan stint in the 2018/19 campaign remains the last addition in that position.

The Belgium Under 21 international has featured in 18 Jupiler Pro League games this term, chipping in with two assists to add to the six direct goal contributions in 32 appearances during the 2020/21 season.
