Leeds chairman Bates calls for England clearout: What about the poor buggers in Afghanistan?

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has called on England to clearout the veterans from their World Cup flop squad.

The former Chelsea owner believes the players are to blame for the failure in South Africa and not Fabio Capello.

Bates said: "So many excuses were put out like they were tired.

"Maybe if they cut down their playboy lifestyles that would give them better rest. The first thing you saw after the plane landed was all the wives and kids.

"What about the poor buggers in Afghanistan? Are they flown out with their families and put up in luxury hotels?

"What's needed is a clear-out. Let's start again."
