Leeds boss Bielsa: I love Pochettino; he deserves PSG job

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa says Mauricio Pochettino can handle the Paris Saint Germain job.

Former Tottenham manager Pochettino took charge of Paris Saint Germain after the Christmas Eve sacking of Thomas Tuchel, now of Chelsea. It meant a homecoming for Pochettino, who was a former defender with Paris Saint Germain.

And Pochettino's start has been impressive, with Paris Saint Germain two points behind Ligue Un leaders Lille, as they sit in second place on the table. They also host Barcelona this week in the second-leg of the Champions League round of 16 defending a 4-1 lead.

Leeds boss Bielsa is a fan of his fellow Argentine and says PSG chose right with their appointment.

He told Canal+ via Le 10 Sport: "Mauricio has shown his ability to adapt everywhere. He is a benchmark for football around the world. (At PSG) he had to adapt immediately, he has extraordinary coaching qualities.

"He won a very big match in Barcelona. It's a great proof of his ability to adapt to a very high level. Knowing how to manage great players, their ego, is not given to everyone.

"I have a lot of affection for him, gratitude, I love him very much. Coaches only get to the top because they get their players to get them there. Mauricio is at the top and he deserves it."

Bielsa had little over one season in Ligue Un with Olympique Marseille, where he left his mark, leading them to a fouth place finish. He then abruptly quit after losing the opening game of the 2015/16 season citing conflicts with management.
