Liverpool No2 Sammy Lee is confident the fans understand they're in transition.
Lee accepts such fine margins are what sets the best teams apart but is confident that the work being done on the training ground will ensure Liverpool begin to pick up the points that will see them climb the table.
"That's what this league is all about," he told liverpoolfc.tv. "There's a fine line between success and mediocrity. We are certainly working hard to make sure we are on the right side of that line."
He added: "What we are trying to implement is difficult at this time but the fans are with us and have stayed with us. It's important for the players because once they know they have the supporters backing them they will try to win even more for them."
