Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye refusing to join Watford over contract dispute

Le Havre midfielder Papa Gueye does not want to join Watford.

The 21-year-old was captain for the team in Ligue 2 this term.

He was thought to have agreed a contract to join the Hornets on July 1.

But ESPN claims that Gueye is outright refusing to sign with the Premier League club.

He believes that he was badly advised by his then agent, Bakary Sanogo.

"I want to condemn the circumstances in which I signed a contract for Watford and what I consider being irregularities from their representatives. (...) Considering that my contract has not started yet, I duly note the end of any contractual links with Watford," he said in a statement to L'Equipe.

The player's new agent Pierre-Henri Bovis is trying to find a way to cancel the deal so that Gueye can move to another club of his choosing.

Watford have not commented to ESPN but believe they have done nothing wrong, and that Gueye's contract is proper.
