Lazio spokesman Arturo Diaconale is adamant president Claudio Lotito has been targeted for abuse over his push for Italy's restart.
Lotito was one of the most vocal supporters for Serie A NOT to abandon their season - and his stand has now been justified with football to resume next month.
“Lotito wanted to devote himself to football because he knew that, without a resumption, the world of football would've paid heavy consequences," Diaconale told Radio Punto Nuovo.
“I don't believe in conspiracies but, when the clues are numerous, they become evidence, evidence that there's a certain willingness on the part of some to weaken and put Lotito in a difficult situation.
“It's difficult to say otherwise. They want to make Lotito pay: his attempt to play on equal terms doesn't appeal to those who have a disproportionate arsenal of weapons."
