Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is moving to head off Manchester United's push for Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

The Napoli defender is interesting United for next season and tentative enquiries have been made.

Corriere dello Sport says De Laurentiis is aware of United's attempts and has actively sought to block their move.

De Laurentiis has been speaking with Di Lorenzo's agent, Mario Giuffredi, for several weeks about a new contract - something which coach Rino Gattuso supports.

Di Lorenzo only penned terms with Napoli a year ago, but De Laurentiis is happy to hand him new terms knowing the interest of United.
