Lazio's move for departing Manchester City captain David Silva is on the brink of collapse.

There was an expectation that Silva would sign a three-year deal with Lazio last week, with a private jet even laid out for him.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says terms over Silva's contract are yet to be settled.

Lazio aren't giving up on the deal and have spent the past three days trying to reach a breakthrough with the player's camp - but without any luck.

Silva, meanwhile, is expected to start tonight against Champions League quarterfinal opponents Lyon.
