Lazio have confirmed Ciro Immobile suffered whiplash in Sunday's car crash.
The striker was driving in Rome last night when a tram ran a red light and his SUV smashed into it, totalling the car.
Immobile assured fans soon after he was unhurt, while Lazio later released a statement updating his injuries.
He has been diagnosed with a trauma to the spine and a compound fracture of the 11th rib on the right side.
Lazio say his condition is good, but he remains under observation at the Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli hospital in Rome.
Immobile scored in Friday's 3-0 win against Spezia.
