Lazio coach Inzaghi delighted with players for Zenit draw

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi was full of praise for his players after their 1-1 draw with Champions League opponents Zenit St Petersburg.

Felipe Caicedo struck for Lazio on Wednesday night.

“It's so satisfying to have a squad like this and I could not ask for more right now," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“In our last two Champions League away games, we had only 13 players. Luiz Felipe had pain in his calf this morning, so could only play five minutes.

“This team is going beyond all expectations and I can only congratulate them. At half-time, I told them that they could give even more, although they were by that stage already scraping the bottom of the barrel for the last drops of energy. I can only praise this squad."

He added: "I am really pleased for Caicedo too, as he deserved his first Champions League goal. He's always been loved at Lazio because he gives everything when he comes on. He too has been dealing with a shoulder problem for 15 days, so we'll need to do something during the break for international duty."
