Lazio coach Inzaghi: Chelsea striker Giroud would've been good for us

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi admits they made a late market attempt for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Blues manager Frank Lampard announced on deadline day Friday that Giroud would not be moving with no replacement lined up.

Inzaghi revealed on Saturday morning: “I had said we would only move for a player who could genuinely improve and help the team.

“We have a few problems in attack with Joaquin Correa's injury, as Felipe Caicedo and Ciro Immobile are playing a lot lately. Giroud would've certainly helped us, but we have to keep going and I'll try to get Bobby Adekanye improving too.

“Few expected Lazio to be in the top three at the start of this season, so the lads know we must continue like this and keep on surprising everybody. Grit our teeth and keep going."
