Lazio coach Inzaghi apologises to Pippo as Benevento relegated

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi has apologised to his brother after last night's 0-0 draw with Torino.

The result saw Toro secure Serie A safety and relegated Pippo Inzaghi's Benevento in the process.

“I am disappointed for my brother, but we gave it our all and I think that was a good reflection on Italian football," said Simone Inzaghi in his press conference.

“It's positive that a team mathematically in Europe still gave its all against Torino. It was good to see two teams battle it out until the 95th minute.

“This has been a very long and very difficult season, we practically had two seasons, as we were playing every three days. Now we have one last match, I'll have to count who is left after injury and suspension, and we'll give it our all again."

Inzaghi is yet to sign a new contract with Lazio.

He continued: “I was concentrated on what I had to do tonight. We'll meet next week and make a decision together. I have a rapport almost of brotherhood with (Lazio director Igli) Tare, and a very good rapport with the President.

“I've been here since 2004, we have great respect for each other. There will never be bad blood."
