Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi was left frustrated after their 1-0 defeat to Chievo.
Roberto Inglese struck the winner for Chievo.
“Football proved again tonight that it doesn't allow you to get away with anything," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“It's a real shame for the lads, as we deserved to win and ended up losing. This is football, it's a ruthless sport, and tomorrow I'll try to put this behind us to prepare for Tuesday and another important game against Inter.
“We lacked a clinical edge, but looking at the statistics with 26 shots to three it seems incredible. Unfortunately, Stefano Sorrentino had a dream performance this evening.
“I went back into the locker room and, as is only right, I told them to keep their chins up and be proud, because in my view we played a very good game.
“These things happen in football and we experienced a similar situation in Genoa last time. Sometimes you score with the first shot, sometimes you can't get it in even after 30 attempts."
