Achraf Lazaar is hoping that he gets a chance at Newcastle United after the exit of Rafa Benitez.

The Morocco international was out of the plans of Benitez for the past two seasons.

However, the 27-year-old is determined to get away from his reserve team isolation to show what he can offer the first team.

He spent part of the last two seasons on loan with Benevento and Sheffield Wednesday as well.

Speaking in Italy to Calciomercato, Lazaar said: "I have finished my holidays and now I go back to Newcastle (for pre-season).

"In the coming days, I will start training for the new season.

"Will I go back to Italy? Now there is nothing. I think only of Newcastle."
