Joan Laporta hopes to drive a wedge between Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and super agent Jorge Mendes.

It's no secret Mendes and Perez have fallen out over the past year, mainly over the sale of Angel di Maria to Manchester United.

Laporta, who is weighing up entering the Barcelona presidential race, recently met with Mendes - a summit which sparked rumours of the Portuguese agent's star clients Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho being considered for Barca moves.

However, El Confidencial says Laporta was laying down an early marker with Mendes - with the view to eventually having him working closer with Barca.

At Real, Mendes has helped the Madrid giants sign the likes of Di Maria, Ronaldo, Pepe and Fabio Coentrao.
