Marco Lanna has been named new president of Sampdoria.

The Italy World Cup winner succeeds Massimo Ferrero after his arrest and subsequent resignation.

Former teammate Beppe Dossena told TMW: "Marco is a decent person, he is certainly totally different from Ferrero in terms of image.

"Many things can be said about Ferrero but the team has been maintained at a certain level, even on the left side. It was clear, however, that he was disliked and his attitude was not appreciated.

"Marco was a footballer, has a different history and it is obvious that he represents something else, he is the beautiful image of an operation that has another substance.

"Of course, he has balance, he is a decent person and I repeat, he is a former footballer and knows the dynamics of this world."
