Lampard urges Chelsea to buy "young, hungry" talent

Frank Lampard hopes Chelsea can buy hungry players in the summer.

"The club will move forward and at the right time the people making the decisions at the top will decide what players will be leaving and joining the club," Lampard told chelseafc.com.

"People make a lot of the age but now if players look after themselves they can play to a lot older. If you look at the way we played against Liverpool and Barcelona, we showed character, hard work and commitment.

"It is very easy to look at the team sheet as soon as you get a bad result and say there are three or four players over the age of 30 and they are too old.

"It is up to the club to look at the big picture and maybe invest in some hungry younger players at some stage," adds the 30-year-old.

"I think it is very important that you bring players who may be are going to be top players but haven't quite won anything yet. That is an important ingredient into the squad and maybe the club will look to do that - but I don't think this squad is too old."
