Derby County boss Frank Lampard is having to wait for his return to Chelsea.
The Mirror says he faces an anxious 48 hours as he waits for the call to come in from Chelsea .
The Blues are expected to ask Derby for permission to hold talks with their manager early this week.
But not before Maurizio Sarri's departure has been rubber-stamped.
Confirmation of that was expected on Saturday and, while ultimately it wasn't forthcoming, it is now likely to happen on Sunday.
That will pave the way for an approach to Lampard, who served Chelsea with distinction for 13 years as a player.
