Lallana: Four England call-ups shows how far Southampton has come

Adam Lallana says the fact that four players from Southampton are in the England squad this week suggests that the club has done extremely well in recent times.

Saints skipper Lallana, strike pair Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez, and young left-back Luke Shaw are all in the Three Lions squad for Wednesday's friendly with Denmark at Wembley.

Lallana spoke highly of 32-year old striker Lambert, who has scored two goals in four internationals, while also praising the other Southampton aces after they were picked by Roy Hodgson for the midweek fixture.

"Seeing Rickie being involved gave everyone an extra 10 per cent of belief," he said.

"We have had a good season at Southampton, been performing well on a consistent basis and we have all been helping each other.

"It is brilliant, it proves how far the club has come and to have four lads representing the country this week is fantastic."

The Saints currently sit ninth on the Premier League table with 39 points from 28 matches.
