Lallana backing Liverpool colleague Sturridge to have England impact

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is backing his club-mate Daniel Sturridge to play a key role in England's campaign at Euro2016.

The 26-year-old striker struggled with injuries for the majority of last season and his participation in the Euros was very much in doubt up until the last moment before Roy Hodgson selected him.

Allan felt Sturridge would always be picked, however, and believes the Reds star can be the game-changer the Three Lions need in France.

Lallana said: "Daniel finished the season very strongly and it's no surprise that he is in the squad.

"Sturridge can change a game on its head.

"He is that talented, that gifted, and he's been fit for the last few months. It was probably a no-brainer to take him.

"That goal in the Europa final sums him up. Out of nothing he can produce a moment of brilliance – that is exactly why he needs to be in and around the England team because he can do something like that and win you a game."
