La Liga uses own streaming platform to show live games

La Liga is set to show up to 35 live pre-season games on its own over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform for free, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

LaLigaSportsTV, which was launched by the organising body for Spanish soccer's top two leagues back in March, will also show RCD Espanyol's Uefa Europa League qualifying rounds, starting with the first leg of their tie against Icelandic outfit Stjarnan on 25th July.

The live streaming coverage will include the International Champions Cup (ICC) clash between cross-city rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on 27th July.

The platform will also show other games from the ICC pre-season tournament not featuring Spanish clubs, including Manchester United's game against Inter Milan on 20th July and Tottenham Hotspur's showdown with Juventus the following day.

Other friendly fixtures to be shown on the platform will include La Liga champions Barcelona's game against Italian side Napoli, while games starring Real Betis, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla will also feature.

The coverage will mark the first time that LaLigaSportsTV has shown live games featuring top-flight La Liga teams. The streaming platform was initially launched to boost the exposure of other Spanish sporting federations, including basketball, handball and hockey.

Although LaLigaSportsTV does not offer live coverage of La Liga games, the platform does house highlights and pre and post-match interviews from Spanish soccer's top flight. There is also an option for fans to watch live broadcasts from the Segunda Division as part of an annual subscription of €14.99 or €2.99 a month.
