LA Galaxy's Beckham keeps door ajar for Australia move

LA Galaxy star David Beckham has kept the door slightly ajar for a potential move to play in Australia.

The 35-year old English midfielder, and probably the biggest name in world football, is currently in Newcastle preparing for Saturday night's exhibition match against the Newcastle Jets at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

When quizzed at a press conference on the MLS club's arrival this morning, Beckham did not rule out the possibility of joining former England teammate Robbie Fowler in the A-League.

"Obviously I've seen the progress of Robbie... I saw him score his hat trick the other day," Beckham said.

"I'm contracted to the Galaxy, I love playing there... It's something (playing in Australia) that I haven't thought about though you never say never."

This is the Galaxy's second visit to Australia, following their 2007 meeting with Sydney FC, where the home side won 5-3. Beckham said that this time, the Galaxy would be out to win.

"(Last trip) it didn't go to script because we lost the game," he added.

"We are here to perform and hopefully win.
