The 35-year old Colombian, who leads the Red Bulls with 58 goals after his four seasons there, is getting set to take on his former teammates when the Galaxy host New York on Saturday.
Angel says that a very strong squad has been assembled in the Big Apple and it wouldn't surprise him if they went all the way to the MLS Cup final this season.
"This is probably the best team ever to play in New York, not just on paper but the balance and depth in the squad," Angel told the NY Post.
"They've been playing well. They're solid in the back, pass the ball well. They're going to be title contenders for sure; that's for sure."
And Angel added that a final between the Red Bulls and the Galaxy would be a dream.
"Hypothetically, I think it would be great to play them, because of what that means for a league: The two teams that have invested the most heavily in the sport in this country in the final,'' he added.
"I don't think you could get a better final than that.''
