LA Galaxy won't be moving for Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott.

Lescott is still at Villa, where he is surplus to requirements, after a proposed free transfer to Rangers collapsed.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena told the Mirror: “He is free but we don't have any room for him.

“We had discussions with the player and the club when they were in a relegation battle in which they didn't put up a real good fight.

“They could have moved their team last October I think – they were awful. The player was very interested in coming but we ended up with Jelle Van Damme.

“The player we have got instead we are pretty fortunate and we have converted him from a left-back to a centre-back.

“At this point in his career he has done well."
