LA Galaxy closing in on former Chelsea star Cole, Milan midfielder De Jong, van Damme

LA Galaxy are believed to be close to signing a trio of quality European players.

According to the LA Times, the MLS giants will soon clinch a deal for AS Roma's Ashley Cole who will be released from his contract with the Italian club.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea left-back, who has played 107 times for England, has been linked with the Galaxy for some time now and it is believed that an agreement is too far away.

Also being heavily linked with the five-time MLS Cup winners is AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong whose days at the San Siro appear to be numbered.

The 31-year-old Dutch international has been with the Rossoneri since arriving from Manchester City in 2012, following spells with Ajax and Hamburg, but has played only six times for Sinisa Mihajlovic this season.

The third player the Galaxy are believed to be close to signing ahead of the 2016 MLS season is Standard Liege defender Jelle van Damme.

Belgian journalist Sven Claes Tweeted that Standard 'have found an agreement' with LA over the transfer of the 32-year-old who has been with the club since 2011.
