LA Galaxy boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto would love to see Lionel Messi join Major League Soccer.

The Argentine superstar looks set to leave Barca after handing in a transfer request and failing to turn up for preseason testing.

Many believe Messi will remain in Europe, but Schelotto has his fingers crossed.

"I was shocked when I heard about Messi's decision about abandoning FC Barcelona because we all thought he was going to retire there," Schelotto told reporters about his fellow Argentine.

"But he must have his reasons and as a fellow Argentine I wish him the best always and I hope he comes to the MLS, it would be great."
