LA Galaxy and Newcastle Jets pay tribute to New Zealand miners

Players and officials involved in the LA Galaxy v Newcastle Jets exhibition match observed a minutes silence to pay tribute to the lives lost in the Pike River mine disaster.

Prior to the match kicking off at EnergyAustralia Stadium tonight, both teams lined up to remember the 29 coalminers who tragically lost their lives in New Zealand's worst mining disaster in a century.

It was a great sight to see with players representing Australia, England, USA, Brazil, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, China, Italy, Iraq and of course New Zealand all paying their respects to the men in Greymouth, in the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island.
