Liverpool hero Dirk Kuyt is convinced Donny van de Beek's time will come at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old missed last night's win over Real Sociedad with a muscle injury.

Kuyt said on Sky Sports: “The step from the Eredivisie to the Premier League is a big step. We see the same with Ziyech, so we need to give the players a little bit of time.

“But I think Donny has been very unfortunate because there are no better players than Fernandes at the moment — in the world. And he's playing in his position, so it makes it very tough for him.

“I think Donny van de Beek has shown in the Champions League last year what a good player he is, so I think his time will come. It was disappointing that he was injured now because Pogba is injured and there is some space in the midfield, and I was hoping he'd get a chance. But he'll have to keep being patient."
