Former Brighton and NAC Breda star Hans Kraay Jr says Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is not being used properly by Holland.
Wijnaldum was a periphery figure for their stunning friendly win over Portugal.
And Kraay Jr said: "I watch Wijnaldum in England and there he plays in a serving role. He has so many good players around him. Now he is the first point of contact together with Kevin Strootman (with Holland) and they never actually play. I sometimes think that he is not himself at all.
"I have the impression that if he has great players around him, like at Liverpool, he is a very useful and dynamic midfielder. I find it so unfortunate that his qualities are taken away from him because there is so little creativity around him. He cannot even do much about it himself, I think.
"You do not have to expect creative and inventive solutions from Wijnaldum. He can play between the lines and suddenly appear in the penalty area. I think he will be better off if he can play a bit more forward."
