Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany says Manchester City can handle being without key defender Aymeric Laporte.
The French defender is out until 2020 after undergoing surgery on a knee problem he picked up during the 3-1 win over Brighton.
“The key thing is by losing Laporte you lose a big player and I think the big players, you need them in the bigger games," Kompany said, ahead of tonight's testimonial game at the Etihad Stadium.
“That is where we will see, but the key strength of this Manchester City team is it is relying more on the system than the individuals. “If you go back through the last two years, there have been long spells with Fernandinho out, Kevin De Bruyne, myself, Kun Aguero as well and the team has never seemed to collapse.
“I don't see City weakening. I think Pep is way too aware of this danger to let it happen."
