Vincent Kompany says he knew his Manchester City career was over after his stunning goal against Leicester City.
The defender scored a long-range piledriver to clinch a 1-0 victory for City, who eventually won an unprecedented domestic treble.
Kompany has decided to join Anderlecht after 11 years at the club and he has revealed the moment he knew his City career was over.
He said: "The moment that ball against Leicester went top bins I knew I was done. I couldn't do better.
"I felt right. This team is ready to achieve something more.
"I've given everything. I've got nothing left. I'm proud of that. You know in this city that's what kept me alive.
"People respect somebody going down and getting back up every time. I've done that."
