Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany missed training ahead of their Champions League opener with Feyenoord.

The Daily Mail says the centre back was City's only absentee at training on Tuesday morning after suffering a calf injury while on international duty with Belgium.

The City captain picked up the injury playing against Gibraltar on August 31 but carried on playing, with the decision made even more bizarre by the fact that Belgium crushed their opponents 9-0.

Kompany was also absent from City's emphatic 5-0 victory over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kompany's latest setback is his 15th injury in just five years.
