Kolarov: Records mean nothing unless Man City win titles

Aleksandar Kolarov insists breaking early-season records counts for nothing at Manchester City.

City are eyeing their 11th straight win under Pep Guardiola which would equal the 11 matches the Tottenham Hotspur side of 1960-61 won at the beginning of their double-winning season.

However, defender Kolarov has made it clear that to win matches is all for nothing unless there are pieces of silverware in the Etihad Stadium trophy cabinet come the end of the campaign.

Ahead of the Champions League trip to Celtic on Wednesday, the Serbian said: "The records are always nice but at end of the season if you don't win the title who is going to remember?

"I don't remember who the last team was that had 11 straight wins but people remember who won things. Records are always there to be broken.

"Someone will make 20 victories in a row one day but at the end if don't win title what are people going to do with the record? Nothing.

"It's always good that you are winning but it's the titles that count, not the records."
