Atletico Madrid captain Koke says James Rodriguez would be welcome at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Colombia attacker is a confirmed Atletico target, though Real Madrid are reluctant to sell to their city rivals.

Koke says if a deal can be settled, James would be welcome by Atleti players.

“He is a Madrid player. He is a great player and we don't know what will happen," said the midfielder.

"If he comes, he is welcome and if he does not, I wish him luck in the team that is his."

Koke added: “We have a lot of new people, but with great enthusiasm and eagerness. That change has also been good for us, I wish it would have taken a little longer because there are people who miss each other, but there are cycles in football as in life and it seems that we are reinventing ourselves well.

"Atleti, the team, in the end is above any player."
